Imagining the Clifford community hall adorned in gold and black with people dressed in semi-formal apparel set the mood for the Clifford Homecoming 2017 meeting on Feb. 13 at Knox United Church in Clifford.
Cheryl Tobin hopes a New Year’s Eve dance will appeal to all ages, with a D.J. playing tunes from throughout the decades. The music will continue into the morning after counting down the stroke of midnight to herald in the homecoming year 2017. Then, a whole year of activities will lead up to the big weekend Aug. 4 to 7.
Chair Bill Smith welcomed 20 committee members and introduced Jana Dally, daughter of co-chair Jackie Dally who has an extensive background in volunteer management. She discussed the logistics of volunteers and a possible way to manage the many tasks required to be handled by hundreds of volunteers. She agreed to the position of volunteer co-ordinator.
Peter Buhrow’s historical team have photo bookmarks to circulate to help people remember the date. More photos are being forwarded to his group and they welcome others. Photos are added to the facebook page and website. Story boards are also refreshed at the library and bank featuring areas of interest in Clifford.
Connie Diebold is still looking for recipes for the cookbook and Bonnie Becker still has chocolate bars for sale, as well as souvenir t-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts.
Anyone with expertise to share who would like to lend a hand with the homecoming is urged to contact secretary Dianne Epworth at 519-327-8091. The next meeting is scheduled for March 12 at 9am at Knox United Church in Clifford.
